Tacorra Gray, M.Ed
Education & Training:
I am an educational therapist, and I am very passionate about working with children. I believe that as an educator you should teach the whole child. I am very enthusiastic about teaching the whole person and not just the standard. Although I truly believe in the development of the whole child, my special areas of expertise are in building reading fluency, reading comprehension, and handwriting.
As an educational therapist, I am trained in using the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is a direct, explicit, multi-sensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia.
Other Work Experience:

During my 2 years as the lead Educator, I was able to lead two successful of cohorts of students who received their GED or adult diploma. Every student also earned their NCCER (National Center for Construction Education & Research) certificate and became part of re-building the youth runaway center.
During my 3rd year of service, I transitioned into being the Mobile Assessment Response Program Coordinator. In this program, I was able to provide full wrap-around services to families being served by The Children’s Cabinet. I was able to establish an on-going relationship with Washoe County School District, which allowed for students to receive both academic and behavioral support services not only at home, but also in the classroom.
